Education and capacity building of teachers

Through the project, teachers and other educational workers will be involved in a total of 106 hours of education in the field of STEM, and 107 hours of education in the field of ICT and active citizenship. Education will be organized in the form of lectures, trainings, workshops and study trips.

 

The topics of education are:

  • STEM today – challenges of sustainable development
  • STEM tomorrow – preparation for the professions of the future
  • Milanković's cycles and climate change today
  • Global classroom – school in the 21st century
  • Methods and development of conceptual learning in children
  • Development of divergent thinking among students
  • Adapting the STEM curriculum to children with learning disabilities
  • Application of the Design Thinking method in teaching
  • Early programming
  • Drone control
  • Adaptation and use of online tools in STEM teaching, examples from practice
  • Intercultural education and methods in the implementation of Civic education
  • Education for Human Rights
  • Political and EU literacy
  • From scientists to humanists – Nansen's legacy – a society of solidarity and dialogue
  • The school as a bearer of values - the role of the school in the development of an intercultural society
  • Film Production and editing
  • Digital storytelling
  • Stop animation
  • Financial literacy and development of entrepreneurial skills

During the three study trips, the teachers will visit the Rijeka Planetarium and the Observatory; Scientific education center Višnjan and freshwater aquarium Aquatika in Karlovac, House of Velebit in Krasno; The "Faust Vrančić" Memorial Center on the island of Prvić, and the Nikola Tesla Memorial Center in Smiljan, and on their trip to Norway they will visit the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer, the VilVite Science Center in Bergen and the Technical Museum in Oslo. Visits to schools in Croatia and Norway are also planned in order to exchange experiences and achieve future cooperation.

Education on sustainable development

As the last activity to strengthen the capacity of teachers and other educational workers in Elementary School Dalj, a lecture entitled 'STEM today - Challenges of sustainable development' was held by Dražen Šimleša, a well-known sociologist from the Zagreb Institute of Social Sciences "Dr. Ivo Pilar", who deals with the field of globalization and sustainable development and is the author of several books and scientific papers.

Flight to the heights of knowledge – education on uav (unmanned aerial vehicle) technology

Imagine a world where you can reach the sky, explore uncharted territories, and provide aid from the air. It's not an imagined future - it's a reality with drone technology that students and teachers have been learning about. The training was held by a drone pilot from Osijek, Tomislav Strahonja, who, as a high school student, was involved in aircraft modeling at the House of Technology in Osijek, which encouraged him to later build drones himself, and now he operates them as a professional drone pilot.

Video Editing Workshops

To school on Saturdays? Yes, if you want to participate in additional workshops and trainings to acquire new skills and improve existing ones. Namely, on two Saturdays in November and December, Primary School Dalj held a video-editing training in which students and teachers participated, who thus got the opportunity, outside of regular classes, to improve their knowledge and skills in the specific area of interest.

Workshop Stop Animation

Did you know that the first stop-motion film was made way back in 1898.? Exactly 125 years later, on Wednesday, November 29th, the students of Primary School Dalj, as part of the project KOZMOS, learned and tried out this interesting animation technique. Students from 3rd to 8th grade ‘’breathed life’’ or animated various objects from their immediate environment, using cut-out, object, puppet and clay types of animation.

DIGITAL STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

The teachers and students worked hard during the three meetings on September 14, 15, and 21 creating their digital stories. With the facilitator Ivana Kovač, they learned how these short digital forms are created, what is the role of photography and sound in digital content, what are copyrights and where can we find free media and audio content. The digital stories we created covered topics that are interesting to school students, they talked about the topic of gender equality and translated their thoughts, attitudes, and dilemmas into the form of digital stories.
