Again this year, we marked Mathematics Day with many interesting workshops in and around the school.
The group of Little Builders and MaSTEMaticians was joined by preschoolers from the Kindergarten Little Prince from Dalj. We made geometric 3D shapes and designed with the help of mathematics. In the Bazinga workshop, students competed in solving brain teasers that included a game of words and numbers and required logical reasoning. As part of the activity The World and I, the students learned what a debate is. Which, of course, was on the subject of mathematics: the students had an argumentative discussion about whether students should still learn the multiplication table or whether modern tools such as calculators are sufficient for everyday use. A programming workshop was held for third grade students. As part of the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the robot and its various components. Through creative tasks, they learned to set up algorithms and got to know the Mind+ programming language. Seventh and eighth grade students participated in a workshop called Mathematics in Nature. Their task was to measure the height of the tree using an improvised clinometer that they made independently using a handy tool.
