Education was conducted by Edina Malkić from the association "Interactive Open Schools" during two meetings and total of 24 hours from 10th – 11th of March. and 24th – 25th of March. The training had three main goals: to gain a learning experience through the application of Design Thinking; convey the methodological aspects of applying Design Thinking in the classroom and reflect on the position and responsibility of teachers and students in the teaching process while applying Design Thinking in classrooms.
During the training, we covered the following topics: the teacher in the 21st century, teaching styles and the methodical-didactic aspect of the work; alpha and z generation of students; Design Thinking - general overview; preparation of scenarios for the application of Design Thinking in school subjects; phases of Design Thinking and the complete experience of applying Design Thinking.
Each of the topics contained a theoretical and practical part - the experience of participating in each phase of Design Thinking. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the teachers and students did a series of exercises aimed at experiential learning - creating solutions for the set challenge, all accompanied by examples of good practices.
The evaluation of the education showed that the topic was relevant, interesting, and provided teachers with the opportunity for personal development. The participants pointed out that through the education they gained new experience, insight into a new way of working, and a different perspective on solving problems in the community.
In the continuation of the project, the participants will apply Design Thinking in their work and integrate certain methodologies in the implementation of new extracurricular activities.
