To school on Saturdays? Yes, if you want to participate in additional workshops and trainings to acquire new skills and improve existing ones. Namely, on two Saturdays in November and December, Primary School Dalj held a video-editing training in which students and teachers participated, who thus got the opportunity, outside of regular classes, to improve their knowledge and skills in the specific area of interest. The participants learned to work in the professional video editing program Edius and showed great enthusiasm and desire to learn. The training was led by television editor Tomislav Strahonja, who told the participants about his beginnings of work and introduced them to the basics of the Edius program. Topics such as the program interface, embedding video material, organizing media files, and basic tools and functions are covered. The participants received a theoretical understanding of assembly, and the theoretical introduction was followed by practical exercises. The students had the opportunity to work on their own projects, applying the acquired knowledge with the support of the head of education.
The education included color management, the use of effects to achieve the desired aesthetic appearance, signing and graphic elements. Special emphasis was placed on the integration of sound into the editing. Participants learned how to harmonize sound with visual elements and create an impressive soundscape. Education encouraged independence in work, and students had the opportunity to make the same video material in their own way, and they collaborated by exchanging ideas.
The participants received not only technical skills, but also an incentive for further research and development in the field of filmmaking. They expressed their satisfaction with the education and their desire for more similar meetings and ways of working. They will continue to study video-editing and deal with it as part of the extracurricular activity Film team, and some have announced that we should not be surprised if in about 10 years we see their name on some television.
